UPDATE 8/13: They were unable to do my mom’s valve replacement surgery on Friday due to lab values. The MD stopped by this afternoon. Surgery will probably be sometime tomorrow 8/14. They have made her NPO after midnight. I pray that the surgery will go well and the medical team will continue to make the right decisions with her care. Thanks for all of the continued prayers!
UPDATE 8/9: My mom was discharged last week after spending 10 days in the hospital. No need for bypass surgery, the angiogram showed no obstructions and the stents are working well. The medical team wanted her to recover at home prior to her valve replacement surgery. Ended up back in the hospital due to difficulty breathing and chest pain on Monday. Her heart rate went up to high160’s earlier today. The plan is to do the valve replacement surgery this Friday. We don’t know what time, yet. The surgeon will try to fit her in. We still don’t know if it will be done through open heart surgery or minimally invasive. It’s been a rough two months for my mom. I continue to pray that the surgeon will be able to do the surgery this Friday and will make the right decisions in her medical care and for my mom to remain strong in her faith. Thank you for all of the continued prayers!!
UPDATE 7/27: My mom has been NPO since midnight. She is currently waiting for an angiogram to be done today. Hopefully, they can repair the valve that way, if not then open heart surgery. I appreciate all of the prayers!!
7/26: My mom has been having breathing issues. She is currently admitted to the hospital for it. She has CHF, Afib, and ESRD. She goes to dialysis 3 times a week. She has had a leaky valve for the past 20 years or so. Has never had any issues. Now the leaky valve has gotten worse and causing issues. The MD’s think this is the reason for her breathing problem. A specialist will see her tomorrow after reviewing the tests. Either they will be able to do a minimally invasive procedure to do the valve repair or they may have to do open heart surgery to repair it. She may also need bypass surgery. She had a stent placed last month for a 90 % blockage. My mom is very nervous. I pray for her faith to remain strong , for her safety, for the doctors and surgeons to make the right decisions for her case.
