PRAYER PATH — For Families at Dover Air Force Base

Lord, I come quietly first,
acknowledging the holy weight of this moment.
A hero has come home,
and a family stands in the shadow of sacrifice.
Let Your presence settle over them like a covering of peace.

I observe the grief that cannot be spoken—
the trembling hands,
the long night of waiting,
the ache that only love can create.
Stand with them, Lord,
as You have promised,
for “The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.” (Psalm 34:18, KJV)

I inquire of You now:
strengthen every mother, father, spouse, child,
every sibling, every friend
who stands on that tarmac with a heart torn open.
Let Your comfort move gently,
steadying their breath,
lifting their head,
reminding them that love is not lost—
it is carried.

Bless the hands and hearts of those who serve at Dover,
those who honor the fallen with dignity,
those who support families in their darkest hour.
Let compassion flow through them like living water.
Let their presence be a quiet reminder
that no family stands alone.

Cover this nation, Lord,
that we may never forget
the cost carried by the few
for the safety of the many.
Let gratitude rise,
not in noise,
but in reverence.

And finally, Lord,
receive this fallen hero with honor.
Let their rest be full,
their reward sure,
for *“Greater love hath no man than this,
that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13, KJV)*

Hold their family close.
Strengthen their steps.
Surround them with Your everlasting arms.
And let Your peace—
the peace that passes all understanding—
be their portion in the days ahead.

Amen.
