🙏🏾Restoring Our Heart Condition (Part 8)
Scriptural Foundation: Ephesians 5:1–21
Heart Examination: Philippians 3:7–16; Philippians 4:8–9
Mind and Spirit: Romans 8:5–6
Father in Heaven,
As I pray today
in the name of Jesus Christ✝️
👍🏾our⚖️ Only ✝️ Way
may You✝️ continue
to teach 👍🏾us⚖️
of another world.
A world
down South.
A Sunday morning.
A breakfast table.
Where generations sit close
enough to pass the plate,
but carry enough history
to fill the house.
how that table,
this generation
met to understand.
“fertilizer”
and soil
telling stories.
About what was planted,
what was watered,
what survived,
and what still needs
to grow.
Stories of
“My continual respect for Barbers”
because sometimes
a chair becomes a classroom,
and conversations
becomes community,
and somebody learns
that listening well
can cut through more
than hair.
Stories of“The youth”
causing somebody
to remember
that tomorrow
is already sitting
at today’s table.
Waiting for someone to
“Bring it in -for a hug”
because of times
where reconciliation
doesn’t begin
with explanation.
Instead arms say
what pride
couldn’t pronounce.
in “Good Faith”,
because trust
isn’t built overnight,
but “brick by brick,”
choice by choice,
truth by truth,
until “character”
gives belief
some proof.
of who our Lord✝️ is
in settings like,
“Church School”
where Scripture
wasn’t just another lesson,
just another “prayer”
but seeds—
planted in generations
who may not have understood
every verse then,
but lived long enough
to discover
why somebody taught it.
Then from it we get
Relevance of revelation
from parables like
the lost “Coin”
to cause us to value
and always require us
to decide
what “something”
is worth.
Like a “grandfathers”
wisdom causing us
to became grown,
in a place
somebody else
was already standing,
already working,
already praying,
already leaving footsteps
we would one day
recognize as roads.
So as I pray
I thank you Father
For these words to say
over days, over month,
and years In a sanctuary
as music’s way
of reminding me How I
“Never had a problem
hearing a guitar play
or being told to pray”
because somewhere
between melody
and ministry,
sound became memory,
and memory
kept pointing
back toward You✝️
even while
“Cleaning the church”
because service
doesn’t always need
a microphone.
Sometimes worship
has a broom.
Ministry has a mop,
and love says,
Nobody has to see me—
this is still
the Lord’s house.
Where we say,
somebody…
“prayed 🫱🏿‍🫲🏾with him”
because faith
was never supposed
to be carried alone.
Hand beside hand.
Heart beside heart.
Brother beside brother,
As prayer becomes a bridge
where distance
once lived.
and“Silver”
Gets its true value
because time
has a way
of showing us
what shines
and what merely glittered.
So Lord as we consider
the importance of worship
and significance of
“Standing up for the choir
so we could sing”
May love
not just sing a song.
may help us know
when we actually are right
Even if we discover we’re wrong
or Love protects
the opportunity
for somebody else
to have a voice.
⸻
And then Lord✝️
As I am reminded of what
southern respect
and dignity means
May Numbers,
Years, and Distance
Nevertheless lead to Growth.
As a reminder
that somewhere between
where we started
and where we stand,
life doubled the lessons
As You✝️
kept writing the story.
At the breakfast table
a place that
was never
just a breakfast.
But the conversations
fed understanding.
as generations
weren’t just remembered.
But it became a place
Where dreams and visions
of each other’s worlds
were shared and learned
As part of a family bond
So Lord if we ever “wondered”
why I listened,
why I remembered,
why those words
still matter—
it’s because
I care
about a lot
➡️⛪️⚖️
Not just ceremonially.
Not occasionally.
Not because family
is simply something
I’m supposed to say matters.
But because understanding
where we came from
helps me understand
who sits
at the table today.
through all of it,
summing this prayer up
In one sentence:
“The best thing I could do was…
Obey.”
When I understood,
when I didn’t
or when obedience felt simple—
or when obedience cost something—
So as I say Amen, Lord
I pray we are all ⛪️ reminded
the shortest road
back to a healthy heart
isn’t another explanation.
It’s obedience
“Your✝️ plan to fix
every area in our life.”
This is my prayer
In Jesus Christ✝️ name
I pray as I give thanks
Amen.
