✝️ Thoughts About Commitment
A Slam-Style Spoken-Word Prayer
(Romans 8:5–6 • Colossians 3:2)
⸻
I pray in Jesus Christ✝️ name as Your Holy Spirit dwells…
Father, we bring our minds before You,
because commitment begins with what we set our thoughts on.
Your Word tells us
to set our minds on things above,
not on things of the earth.
And You also remind us
that a mind set on the Spirit
is life and peace.
So align our thinking—
away from impulse,
away from comparison,
away from the convenience-driven culture
that treats commitment like an option.
Set our minds higher.
Set our thoughts deeper.
Let our commitment be governed by Your Spirit,
not by emotion or moment.
The world models commitment like possession—
here today, replaced tomorrow.
But You call us to covenant.
To faithfulness shaped by truth,
not comfort.
Being physically close is good—
but being spiritually close is better.
Because Your Holy Spirit knows both hearts
more accurately,
more intimately,
than proximity
ever could.
So draw us near in Spirit.
Teach us to commit first in the mind,
then in the heart,
then in action.
Seeing one another is good—
but conversation is better
when Your Word stands between us
as intercessor and guide.
We don’t just want to know each other—
we want to know the Holy Spirit
as we are led into all truth.
Help us remember
that the more we communicate,
the stronger we become—
clearer,
steadier,
more aligned.
So, set our minds on things above, Lord,
so our commitments bring life and peace,
not confusion or fear.
Let our devotions
reflect our devotion to ✝️You.
We submit our thoughts to You now—
govern them by Your Spirit,
anchor them in truth,
and let commitment flow
from a mind fixed on Christ✝️.
In Jesus Christ✝️ name I pray and give thanks. Amen. 🕊️
